My friend Ben Settle published a book earlier this year called The Copywriting Grab Bag. I have a copy of the book, and it’s phenomenal.
But here’s what’s so cool…
One of the guys who bought Ben’s book was so impressed that he actually created a video and published it on YouTube!
Observation: you have to be thrilled with a product to give a testimonial… but you have to be really thrilled to create a video and upload it to YouTube.
Here is a link to the video:

Hey Ryan,
Thank you so much for the nice comment about my book and for showing everyone that video testimonial, I really appreciate it.
I hope it is okay to make this offer on your blog (if not, I apologize — and understand if you delete this) but I want to add that any of your blog readers who buy the book and email me their receipt will get a very special bonus gift.
Just tell me you came from Ryan Healy’s website when you email it so I know where you came from.
Ben
@ Ben,
I have not yet purchased your new book, but I have read the free e-book, “Copywriter’s Crib Sheet”, and if your book is better than that…well…
You have perfected that marketing process my friend

Whew-boy! Talk about a content-less 4:40 video! So it’s over 300 pages of “no fluff.” That’s really about all Tim (whoever-he-is) had to say.
I’m curious why you thought either the video OR the book was (or is) “Cool.” What is so cool about “this” (whatever it is–video or book)?
Sorry, Ryan! Not one of your better posts. IMNSHO.
John
@ John,
I think the point of posting the video was that someone posted a “non-solicited” testimonial on You-Tube…
…so obviously the book was good enough for someone (Tim) to take the time and energy to create a video, and submit it to the largest video repository on the web so everyone could see it.
John, if you created a product, and one of your clients was impressed enough to go through the effort to create a video and submit it to You-Tube…I hope you wouldn’t call it “content-less”. I hope you would use it in your marketing, or give your client a bonus.
Sorry John, not one of your better comments

Hi John - My post was not intended to praise the video. (I agree, it’s a bit long-winded.)
What I thought was cool is that a customer of Ben’s took the time to create a video and post it on YouTube without being prompted or given an incentive to do so.
What do I like about Ben’s book?
1. You don’t have to read it start to finish. You can pick any chapter and get a quick lesson in copywriting. (That’s why Ben calls it his “grab bag.”)
2. Ben writes the same way when he’s teaching as when he’s writing ad copy. So each chapter (usually 1-3 pages) is written in the same style he would use for an ad.
3. The chapter titles are very compelling. For instance, “What Tree-Huggers Know About Writing Million-Dollar Ads,” How to Destroy Your Competition… by Praising Them,” and “How to Sell High-Ticket Products with Just One Bullet Point.”
4. There are nine appendices in the back of the book. They are the transcripts from interviews Ben has done. For instance, you’ll find interviews with Ken McCarthy, David Deutsch, and Brian Clark of Copyblogger.
Anyway, those are a few reasons why I like Ben’s book. I hope that helps, John.
Ryan
P.S. The portion of the book Ben wrote ends on page 118. The rest of the book (from page 119 to 306) are the interview transcripts.
