It’s a great idea, Ryan – and if it was just a regular blog topic, I’d read it like a shot… but to be honest, I wouldn’t be inclined to pay for simply how to get more comments, period.

My ears would perk up considerably, however, if there was some added-value slant to it. Like “How To Provoke Juicy Comments That Will Increase Your Blog’s Visibility And Value” or “Increasing Comments That Drive Highly Targeted Traffic To Your Blog”

@Note Taking Nerd & Mark Eckenrode – Seems you guys have a similar idea: interviewing “big name” bloggers to dig out their secrets.

@Tony – That’s a good point. Often, if I get a comment that is that bland (“Good post.”), I assume it’s spam and either delete it or hold it in the moderation queue.

the report is definitely enticing. not sure if it’s something i’d pay for since every community strategy is different but i see value there for sure.

now… a report plus a teleseminar roundtable with various bloggers who have managed to build community and engagement. that’s hot :)

I would definitely be interested in this report. I wrote articles for a newspaper for a few months and loved getting the comments, good and not good.

Well, congrats man! Nice milestone. As for the report…I think it would help certain people that are looking to gain more comments.

I really can’t say if I would pay for it or not…but I know there would be others that would.

I agree with the person above, peeps that are only getting 0-2 comments would probably love to get some nice tips.

Blog Comments are great … I’m all for it.

The other question is:

1.) Did you get more traffic because of the increased blog comments?

2.) Did you get leads, prospects and clients because of the increased activity on your blog?

Maybe consider a report on “How To Get More Rich And Relevant Comments”

Show how to get comments that go beyond:
“nice post, Ryan.”
“I couldn’t agree more.”
“Cool”

I think you’re speaking to a need for someone new to blogging or who’s been at it for a while and is banging their head against the wall trying to figure it out.

Especially people who cruise some of the blogs that are getting 35, 50, upwards of 150 comments for their posts and then look at theirs and see they get zero to 2.

This is definitely a source of pain for some people.

I know the size of your list matters. More people to email and ask to show up, the more potential comments.

It seems to me that along with your knowledge, this topic would be a beautiful platform for interviewing the kings and queens of blogging. The whole interview series could revolve around the theme…

“Why my blog averages 147 posts while yours might only average .05. Here’s what I do to make this possible. Follow my lead and you may very well join me.”

If the offer were compelling enough I’d be on board.

It’s a good idea. Whether it’s worth paying for or not, depends on how much you put into the report. Tips for increasing blog posts are readily available on the net by themselves. (I know, I haven’t been following them yet. :-) )

If you put in your talent for counseling others and expand beyond the simple tips found in blog posts, I’d say yes – it’s worth paying for.

Doubly so if you give a bit of a tutorial of how to use Wordpress plugins to gain traffic. Wordpress seems very scary to people, especially some new copywriting students who are just starting to build their internet presence.
