Great speaking voice. Such a sweet relief from the fast, gobbledey gook from so many. Sometimes one wonders, wha' they speak? Great videos, and thank you for helping us out. Blessings.

You might also want to consider providing MP3 downloads of the videos. It would be very useful to be able to listen to them in the car, etc.

Looking forward to more information about your coaching program. I've worked as an editor, marketing writer, and technical writer, but have had problems making the leap to copywriter...

To Jeremy:

No sure why you're having such a hard time finding
numbers and names... but... here are a couple of
suggestions.

First, real companies always include their offline address and other contact info. Usually, they have a link that says "Contact Us". Or something like that.

Then, simply call them and ask for the owner's name or marketing director.

So you might be wasting time going after people who hide behind the Internet veil.

What I showed you in the video is what I do. Yes, it takes more time... but... it's more effective. Take the time to do this right.

The Standard Periodical Directory is not the SRDS. Find a library near by that has one and go there. I once traveled 2-1/2 hours to Indianapolis to get one piece of information that helped me make over $30,000. The point is, it's worth doing whatever you must to get your hands on the SRDS.

You'll only need to do this once.

If you "shortcut" the process in the video you will not get the best results.

You've been forewarned...

Ryan-

Just watched video 2 and 3. WOW. John held nothing back. I'm excited to try this. I've been lucky to have a steady stream of clients since I started, but I'd be an idiot not to implement this.

Now that I'm a full-time freelancer (and the sole breadwinner of my growing family) I can't trust my career to luck.

Thanks for yoru generosity guys. I'm looking forward to watching all the videos.

Awesome - I'm watching it now.

Thanks again for putting up these video's - I've already implemented your suggestions in video 2.

One question about that though...

I spent a whole lot of time trying to find numbers, names, etc.

How much of a difference do you think it'd make if I just wrote the letters with "ATTENTION: Marketing Director" on it the envelope instead of finding the specific person?

I know it's a little more personal...but it takes so long I'm not sure it's worth the extra time.

I could probably find 5 addresses by the time I find 1 address with a name...

I could see hiring someone to do it, but at this point I don't have the money to do that (although my sister agreed to do it in the future).

Think I should just send it to the marketing director instead of the specific person?

P.S. - None of the libraries in my area have the SRDS, but I found one with the The Standard periodical directory. Would that work at least as a starting point? It says it has mailing lists...

Ryan,

Is there any chance you can send me the URL's to the video's? I've already watched all 4 but don't have the e-mails that had the links and I want to watch 2 of them over again.

If you can do this just send me an e-mail to Jeremy @ controlbeatingcopy.com

Thanks!

@Jeremy - Thanks for the compliment. Glad you liked the formula. It's an easy way of determining whether a project is worth your time or not.

Ryan,

Once again - great video.

Although most of what you said "seems" like common sense, the majority of people never really think about it and never do the techniques you talked about.

I liked the formula you gave for helping us realize how much we need to make per day - very nice!
